Vauxhall has announced a new partnership with Team GB, becoming the Official Automotive Partner of Britain's Olympic team ahead of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. The collaboration will continue through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with Vauxhall supporting Team GB athletes as they prepare to compete on the world's biggest sporting stage.
The partnership brings together two organisations with deep British roots. While Team GB represents the very best of British sporting talent, Vauxhall has been manufacturing vehicles in the UK since 1903 and remains one of the country's most recognisable automotive brands. Today, the manufacturer continues to invest in the future of British motoring through its growing range of electric vehicles and UK-based production.
Although Vauxhall is looking firmly towards the future, its heritage remains an important part of its identity. The company has been building vehicles in Britain for more than 120 years and continues to manufacture electric models at its Ellesmere Port facility in Cheshire.
The site made history by becoming the UK's first volume manufacturing plant dedicated entirely to electric vehicle production. It currently builds the Combo Electric van and Combo Electric Life, reinforcing Vauxhall's commitment to supporting both British manufacturing and the UK's transition towards zero-emission transport.
The brand also continues to enjoy strong success with its passenger cars. The Vauxhall Corsa remains the UK's best-selling small car, reflecting its popularity with drivers looking for an affordable, practical and efficient hatchback.
The new partnership arrives just weeks before Team GB athletes compete at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, taking place from 6 to 22 February. British competitors will be taking part in a wide range of events, including curling, bobsleigh, figure skating, freestyle skiing and alpine disciplines.
Vauxhall will continue to support Team GB beyond the Winter Olympics as preparations begin for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. The partnership reflects a shared focus on determination, innovation and representing Britain on the international stage.
Alongside the Team GB announcement, Vauxhall continues to expand its electric offering. Every passenger car and van in the current Vauxhall line-up is now available with a fully electric version, giving customers the freedom to choose an electric model regardless of the type of vehicle they need.
Affordability also remains a key focus. Vauxhall's entire electric car range is priced below £40,000, while the new Frontera Electric starts from £22,495 on the road, including the Electric Car Grant. In a notable move, the fully electric Frontera is even priced lower than the equivalent hybrid model, making the switch to electric more accessible for many families.
Vauxhall's commitment to electrification extends beyond the vehicles themselves. Through its Electric Streets of Britain campaign, the manufacturer is working with charging providers and local authorities to improve access to on-street charging for households without private driveways.
Around 40% of UK households do not have off-street parking, making public charging infrastructure an important part of wider EV adoption. More than 12,000 streets across the UK have already been registered through the Electric Streets initiative, helping identify locations where additional charging points could benefit local communities.
Team GB is the national Olympic team for Great Britain and Northern Ireland and is managed by the British Olympic Association (BOA). The organisation is responsible for preparing and supporting British athletes at every Olympic Games, helping them compete at the highest level across both summer and winter sports.
The team has enjoyed remarkable success in recent years. Since the London 2012 Olympic Games, Team GB has won more than 60 medals at every Summer Olympics. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, British athletes secured 65 medals, including the nation's 1,000th Olympic medal since the modern Games began in 1896. Team GB is also the only nation to have won at least one gold medal at every Summer Olympic Games.
Unlike many national Olympic organisations, the British Olympic Association receives no annual funding from the UK Government or the National Lottery. Instead, it relies on commercial partnerships and fundraising, making long-term collaborations with organisations such as Vauxhall an important part of supporting athletes on their journey to future Olympic Games.
The partnership brings together two organisations with a long history of representing Britain in different ways. Team GB inspires millions of people through sporting achievement, while Vauxhall has been part of British motoring for more than 120 years. By becoming Team GB's Official Automotive Partner, Vauxhall will help support athletes as they prepare for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The announcement also reflects shared ambitions around innovation and sustainability. As Team GB continues to prepare athletes for future success, Vauxhall is continuing its own transformation by expanding its electric vehicle range and investing in British manufacturing.
