The UK Government is once again helping drivers make the switch to electric. Through the Zero Emission Vehicles Grant, eligible new electric vehicles can receive a discount of up to £3,750, reducing the upfront cost of buying an EV. The scheme is backed by £650 million of government funding and is designed to make zero-emission vehicles more affordable for UK households. If you've been considering an electric car, now could be one of the best times to buy.
Unlike previous grant schemes, you don't need to fill in any paperwork. If a vehicle qualifies, the discount is applied automatically by the manufacturer or dealer at the point of sale.
The scheme currently offers two levels of support:
To qualify, vehicles must be fully electric and generally have a recommended retail price of £37,000 or less.
The list of eligible vehicles continues to grow as manufacturers apply for approval.
At the time of writing, 15 electric vehicles available through Eden Motor Group qualify for the Government's Electric Car Grant. All currently approved Eden models are eligible for a discount of up to £1,500 off the purchase price.

The Hyundai Kona Electric is the only Hyundai model included on the Government's list of vehicles eligible for the Electric Car Grant.

Let's look at a simple example. If an eligible electric vehicle receives the maximum £3,750 discount, that saving is applied before you even drive away.
For a vehicle priced at £35,000, the grant could reduce the purchase price to: £31,250
Even models receiving the lower £1,500 grant still benefit from a meaningful reduction in upfront cost.
