What does Motability mean? What are the best Motability deals?

The Motability Scheme is designed to help people who are less mobile to enjoy more freedom and independence by having access to a vehicle. To minimise the stress and ensure members have access to the best choice of cars and the keenest prices, the Scheme takes care of the purchasing, insurance, servicing and breakdown cover.

It is open to anyone receiving a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months left. These allowances are:

  • Personal Independence Payment (higher rate)
  • Disability Living Allowance (higher rate)
  • Scottish Child Disability Payment (higher rate)
  • Scottish Adult Disability Payment (enhanced rate)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • War Pensioners Mobility Supplement

There are currently more than 640,000 vehicles in the UK which are run by the Scheme, meaning around one in 10 new cars registered in Britain go to a Motability customer. All profits are reinvested into the Scheme for the benefit of customers.

How do I apply for a Motability vehicle?

The easiest way to apply is online through the scheme’s website. If you would like any help our advice, Eden’s Motability experts will be happy to talk you through the process and help if needed.
