Peugeot 3008 v Peugeot 5008

Peugeot has a great variety of family-focused cars and its 3008 and 5008 remain two firm favourites among buyers who love space and practicality. Match this together with some head-turning looks and you have two cars which could fit the bill for all types of drivers.

Eden has a great selection of used 3008 and 5008 models, too, but how do they compare and which one is right for you? Here, we’re going to take a look at how they differ and what each car offers.

Design

Both the 3008 and 5008 offer the striking exterior design that has become so associated with modern-day Peugeot cars. Each new Peugeot 3008 on sale incorporates strikingly slim LED headlights, while around the back there’s a gloss black panel which sits between the taillights to give it all a rather futuristic feel.

Switch to the 5008 and you can see a common thread between the two but, put simply, there’s just more ‘car’. With this added size comes more road presence, and we’re particularly fond of the styling element which threads along the sides of the bonnet and makes the headlights appear even sharper and extended.

Technology

In-car tech can help make everyday life a little easier and you’ll find it in spades with both the Peugeot 3008 and 5008. The latter of the two includes all manner of handy features, including a 10-inch touchscreen with 3D navigation and a full Bluetooth connectivity service. There’s even a 12.3-inch driver display which can be configured to show the exact readouts and information you need.

The 3008 is hardly what you’d call sparse, either. It too gets the same windscreen infotainment and driver display as standard, as well as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ which allow you to seamlessly mirror your smartphone’s apps, messages and media on the main screen.

Spaciousness

Nearly all families need space from their cars and you’ll find that the 3008 and 5008 are able to offer plenty of room. Naturally, the larger 5008 will be the choice of larger families or those who can’t travel as lightly. With seven seats in place, there’s a still-handy 165 litres to use, or 952 if you fold those two rearmost seats flat. You can, if you need, remove seats six and seven completely, unlocking an impressive 2,150 litres. Finally, with all seats folded flat, you’ll have access to a cavernous 2,042 litres of boot space.

The 3008 may be the smaller car, but it’s still able to offer tip-top boot space. In fact, there are 520 litres of room to explore with all the seats in place, or 1,482 with the rearmost seats folded flat. Remember, there’s a slight space penalty if you opt for the plug-in hybrid, which returns 395 and 1,357 litres respectively as a result of the boot-mounted batteries.

Engine Choices

Finding the right engine for you can be tricky. Fortunately, there is a good variety of powertrains to browse through via our used car site for both the Peugeot 3008 and 5008, ensuring you find a setup which is just right for you. Petrol engines aboard the 3008 provide a good blend of performance and efficiency, with the compact 1.2-litre turbocharged unit being particularly frugal - it’s great if you’re looking to reduce your fuel bills.

The 5008 also has a good suite of engines to choose from. While the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol that you’ll find in the 3008 is available, this larger, heavier car feels better suited to a bigger engine and both the 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel are perfectly suited to getting the 5008 up to speed in good time while still returning decent fuel economy.

Storage Capacity

Plenty of storage is a must-have in any family car. The duo of 3008 and 5008 both provide a decent number of cubbies to help keep their interiors as tidy as can be. In the 3008, rear-seat passengers get usefully sized storage nets on the front seatbacks and if you fold down the centre seat backrest, you’ll find a pair of cupholders which are ideal for those on-the-go drinks.

As the larger car of the two, the 5008 does offer some more interior space. Forwards passengers can make use of the deep door bins and that’s the same story for middle-row occupants. Even those sitting at the very back have a cupholder to make use of.

We’ve taken a look through some of the key differences between the Peugeot 3008 and 5008, but now the challenge is in your hands - so head on over to our website to take your pick between these two striking SUVs.
