The Motability scheme is designed to make things as simple as can be. However, if you want to get an overview of how it works and the types of cars available, we’ve got all the information you need. So read on to find out everything you need to know about Motability.

What is Motability?

Motability is a scheme which helps people with a disability to lease a new car. It’s available on thousands of cars and enables people to use their qualifying mobility allowance to lease a new car, wheelchair-accessible vehicle, scooter or powered vehicle. If your car needs certain adaptations, then it can be used for this, too, so you won’t have to bear any additional costs if there are tweaks and changes that need to be made.

Do I qualify for a Motability Car?

To qualify for a Motability car, you’ll need to have one of the following allowances:

  • Enhanced rate mobility is part of the Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Higher rate mobility part of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Higher rate mobility is part of the Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
  • Enhanced rate mobility part of Adult Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • Higher rate mobility component of Child Disability Payment (Scotland)
  • War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

What Motability cars are on offer?

If you’re looking for variety, then you’ve come to the right place here at Eden. Let’s take a look at some of the top cars available on the Motability scheme today.

Hyundai i10

If you’re after a no-frills urban Motability car with bags of character, then check out the Hyundai i10. It’s the smallest car in Hyundai’s range, but thanks to its boxy design, the i10 offers more interior space than you might think.

Compact dimensions make the i10 a breeze to park while there’s loads of standard equipment including air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and electric and heated wing mirrors.

Vauxhall Frontera Electric

Step into the electric world in style with the new Vauxhall Frontera. With a bold new look - incorporating Vauxhall’s ‘Vizor’ front end - the Frontera is a compact SUV with up to 248 miles of range from a single charge. Rapid charging means you’ll not be waiting at the plug for too long, either.

The Frontera comes well equipped as standard, too, with highlights such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fitted to all models. This smartphone mirroring system makes it easy to use and display your favourite apps via the car’s main screen.

Hyundai Inster

If you like the idea of an electric Motability car but fancy something a little smaller, then the Hyundai Inster could be the right way to go. It’s one of Hyundai’s latest cars and packs a whole lot of technology into a small, easy-to-park package. With a range of up to 229 miles, the Inster can go further than you might expect, and all versions get a heat pump as standard, which helps to boost this car’s efficiency in cold weather.

Because the Inster is quite boxy, it offers a lot of headroom, so your taller passengers will be able to get comfortable. Plus, there are loads of great storage areas to help keep this car’s interior as tidy as possible.

MG HS SE

If you’re after a more practical Motability car, then the MG HS SE is a great option. It’s MG’s largest SUV and, as a result, means it’s got loads of boot space to offer alongside a wide, spacious cabin. It’s packed with technology, too, including two 12.3-inch displays which showcase media, navigation and driver-related functions.

At the back, you’ve got a 507-litre boot which is square and easy to access. Plus, if you need a little extra room, you can fold down the rear seats and expand that load area up to an impressive 1,484 litres.

Peugeot 3008

Looking for a head-turning Motability car? Enter the Peugeot 3008. With its sleek design, this is a car which certainly stands out from the crowd, while an eye-catching blue exterior colour - one of a number available with the 3008 - ensures that this Peugeot makes an impression wherever it goes.

All versions get features such as Bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel controls, while the electric Peugeot e-3008 also comes with an ‘Eden Exclusive’ free pod point wall box for easy home charging.
