There’s some great news for MG drivers and for anyone considering an MG as their next car.
MG has been named the most improved car brand for reliability in the 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey, moving from 30th place last year to 9th overall, with a reliability score of 92%.

There was more positive news for the MG MGS5 EV, which was MG’s highest-performing model in the survey and the highest-scoring electric SUV.
The MGS5 EV achieved an impressive 98.3% reliability rating, placing it joint 14th in What Car?’s overall ranking.
Only 6% of the MGS5 EVs included in the survey experienced an issue, with the EV battery the only reported problem. Crucially, every affected car was repaired within a day and owners didn’t have to pay for the repairs.
That’s reassuring to see, particularly for drivers who like the idea of going electric but still have questions about EV batteries, reliability and potential repair costs.
