There’s never been a better time to go electric than right now. Here at Eden, we’ve got a wide range of electric vehicles to choose from, and with ever-improving infrastructure and competitively low rates of home electricity, making the transition to an EV could be easier than you think.
But which electric vehicle should you be looking at if you want to make the change? We’ve picked out five of the best - and they’re all available here at Eden.
Vauxhall is on a roll when it comes to electric cars, and today, you can find an EV version of nearly every car in its range. The Grandland Electric is one of the most recent - and most spacious - to join the line-up, bringing a distinctive look through Vauxhall’s eye-catching ‘Vizor’ front-end design.
The Grandland Electric GS is packed with the latest technology, including a 10-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a panoramic sunroof. With a range of up to 325 miles, it’s great for long-distance trips, while a 160kW maximum charging speed means you could finish a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in around 30 minutes.
How could you not love the compact Hyundai Inster? It might be one of the smaller EVs on sale today, but it packs more space than you might think. The rearmost seats fold completely flat, so it’s easy to load bigger items into the back of this pint-sized car. It’s also got plenty of onboard technology, with features such as a heated steering wheel and a 10.25-inch infotainment system coming equipped on all models.
It’s available in Standard and Long Range battery specifications - delivering ranges of 203 and 229 miles respectively - and a maximum charging speed of 125kW could see a 10-80 per cent charge completed in half an hour.
Peugeot has completely reinvented itself over the past few years and its range of electric vehicles has been key to this. Take the new E-3008, for example. It has all the features that you’d want from a family-focused car, including a large, spacious interior and a handy 520-litre boot, but it’s wrapped in an exterior design which really turns heads.
You can get an impressive 435 miles of range from certain E-3008 models, too, and because it can charge at speeds of up to 160kW can go from 10 to 80 per cent in under 30 minutes.
Mazda’s quirky MX-30 REV is great for people who like to do things a little differently. Inside, you’ll find lots of natural materials - including cork - and it’s all tied together with a relaxing, stress-free design. There’s an 8.8-inch infotainment system, too, and you get both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
The REV also uses a very compact petrol engine, which acts as a generator for the electric motor and battery. On battery power alone, you get around 53 miles of range, but when that petrol engine is brought in, this extends to an impressive 423 miles in total.
One of the newest additions to MG’s ever-expanding line-up of electric vehicles is the S5. It’s a sharp-looking SUV to arrive on the scene with a range of up to 298 miles and a high-tech interior with a clever 12.9-inch infotainment system that can even show popular apps like Spotify and YouTube without the need for a connected smartphone.
The MG S5’s charging properties are smart, too. It’s got MG’s latest battery technology, which means that it can charge at speeds of up to 139kW, meaning a 10 to 80 per cent top-up in 28 minutes. These new batteries are thinner and lighter than before, too, so they take up less space in the car overall.
Think one of these electric vehicles sounds like it could work for you? Get in touch with the Eden team today, and they’ll be able to tell you more about them or, if you’d like more options, they’ll be able to let you know about the wider range of cars that we’re able to offer here.
