Eden Motor Group Raises Over £6,000 to Support Young Cancer Warrior, Sophie

At Eden Motor Group, giving back to the local community is at the heart of everything we do. From customer care to charitable efforts, we’re proud to support causes that matter. One of our most heartfelt events to date was a charity football match in Fareham to support a courageous 9-year-old girl named Sophie, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

On Sunday the 1st of August 2021, we organised a charity football match at our local football club, Fareham Town Football Club. The Eden team played against the Richmond Motor Group and beat their rivals 5-1 to claim local bragging rights, but the real winner was the charity.

The match was in aid of Sophie, a 9-year-old girl who was diagnosed with anaplastic rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The aim of the day was to try and raise money to contribute towards her bucket list after her terminal diagnosis. Lots of local businesses got involved by providing face paints, a bouncy castle, an ice cream van, and lots of raffle prizes were donated. The club itself organised a cocktail and mocktail menu especially for the day. Eden Motor Group sponsored all the kits for the event.

We managed to beat our £5000 target and raised a whopping £6488 for the cause. Sadly, since the match was played, Sophie tragically lost her valiant battle with her illness. The funds raised helped her to reach most of her bucket list including going to Legoland, meeting Gordon Ramsey, and visiting Jimmy's Farm and Wildlife Park.

The remaining funds will be donated to Alice's Arc who aim to improve research and funding into rhabdomyosarcoma. You can still donate now using the link below. By donating you can help fund finding kinder treatments for children with better outcomes. To learn more about Sophie's journey, check out her Facebook page.
