Best used cars for the summer

The summer is here, and with it comes the possibility of warmer weather and upcoming holidays. Summer is a great time to get out and explore behind the wheel of a used car, and here at Eden, we’ve got a broad number of models that can help to make warm-weather driving even more exciting.

So, if you are looking to switch cars this summer, what models should you be considering? Let’s take a look at some of the very best, which are all available to buy via Eden today.

Mazda MX-5

There are few cars which offer quite the same level of summertime good feelings as the Mazda MX-5. The ever-popular roadster has been a common sight on the UK’s roads for decades, mainly due to its no-nonsense approach that puts outright experience at the top of its priority list.

You’ll find a few Mazda MX-5 used car models available here at Eden, with them all offering the latest equipment available from this brand. It’s available with both 1.5- and 2.0-litre petrol engines, with both offering lots of performance but better efficiency than you might expect.

Mini Convertible

The convertible is one of the most popular variants of the Mini available today. It’s got the same funky exterior design as the standard hatchback, but its folding cloth roof creates a completely different experience to the one you’d get from the hard top model.

Inside, you’ll find a well-built cabin with lots of useful features. But most importantly, the Mini Cooper delivers a driving style which can make every road into an exciting adventure thanks to excellent handling and a range of punchy engines.

Fiat 500C

The Fiat 500 was a breakthrough success when it was first launched, bringing some of the styling of its classic predecessor with lots of more modern touches. The 500C - which is the convertible variant - adds a whole different dimension as it allows you to get that wind-in-your-hair feeling in this compact four-seater.

The Fiat 500C’s small dimensions mean it’s easy to park, but you’ll also find lots of handy standard features included, such as cruise control, rear parking sensors and a seven-inch central display with media and navigation functions.

Audi Q7

If you’re after a big, do-it-all SUV to help out with all of your summer adventures, then look no further than Audi’s Q7. With seven seats, it’s great for larger families, or you can keep it in five-seater mode and make use of its enormous boot. You’ll find more than enough space back there for loads of luggage, sports equipment or a pushchair.

The Audi Q7 feels refined and solid to drive, too, with a hushed driving experience that could provide a useful contrast to the hustle and bustle of a day at the beach during summer.

Vauxhall Vivaro Life

But maybe you’ve got some big groups of people to transport this summer, or journeys to the airport which require a bit more room. In that case, you’ll need a practical option and the Vauxhall Vivaro Life is just that. Based on the standard Vivaro van, the Vauxhall Vivaro Life adds two rows of rear seats which means you’ve got space for up to eight people, including the driver.

Even when all of those seats are in place, there’s still a decent amount of room for luggage. In short, you’ll struggle to find a more practical option.

Hyundai Inster

Not all summertime-friendly cars need to be uber-large, and the Hyundai Inster is a great example of a compact vehicle that’ll help you to make the most of the warmer weather. It’s impressively small, in fact, but because you can fold all of the seats completely flat - including the driver’s - it can, in theory, be used as a micro camper.

This compact EV has a range of up to 223 miles on Long Range versions, while two 10.25-inch interior displays help the cabin of the Hyundai Inster to feel just as futuristic as its exterior design.

Peugeot 308

The Peugeot 308 is carved in the style of the classic hatchback, which is a body shape that feels appropriate to all kinds of driving. Particularly for summertime motoring, the Peugeot 308’s large boot will help when transporting luggage or equipment, yet its reasonably compact size ensures that you’ll be able to get that final space at the seaside car park.

We’re big fans of the 308’s design, too, with Peugeot’s latest ‘claw’ daytime running lights helping to add some extra edge to this car’s look.
