Electric models tend to suit drivers with off-street parking and predictable daily mileage. If you often cover long distances without reliable charging, petrol or diesel remains the simpler choice.

On a used electric car, ask about the battery's state of health and how much of the manufacturer battery cover remains, as both affect range and resale value.

Models that are no longer built, such as the Insignia, Crossland and Zafira, continue to be serviced by Vauxhall dealerships, and parts remain available through the manufacturer network.
