One of the best known family-owned dealer groups in Southern England has taken its total of funds raised for MacMillan Cancer Care to well over £60,000 after hosting another successful round of coffee mornings at its 24 dealerships.
Eden Motor Group, which has sites stretching from Stratford-Upon-on-Avon to Torbay, is still raising money from its current round of MacMillan Coffee Mornings, which has seen over £18,000 raised – with Eden CEO Graeme Potts doubling the value of every penny pledged.
It brings the total amount raised for the charity to more than £63,100 so far, with fundraising for 2021 still ongoing.
This year also saw a competition to win a diamond bracelet valued at £4,000, which was won by Eden customer Jason Taylor from Bracknell, Berks – perfect timing as it was days before his wife’s birthday.
Eden’s Operations Director, James Kurd, said: “As well as all of our colleagues baking and selling cakes, we have had the support of local businesses and our suppliers, who have very generously donated prices for us to raffle.
“Our Directors have also taken on several challenges, including the Finance Director having his legs waxed, other directors having their hair shaved, being soaked in medieval stocks, a 100-mile cycle ride, 1000 press-ups in a day, and one director visiting six showrooms in a baby dinosaur tutu costume, much to our customers’ amusement.
“Above all, though, we want to support a charity that helps so many people and touches so many lives and it’s great to do this with the support of the entire Eden family – every year, the whole company gets behind it and it just gets bigger and bigger.”
Macmillan is one of the best-known cancer charities, with a focus on helping cancer sufferers and their families manage their journeys, from understanding diagnoses to MacMillan’s own nurses, providing respite and palliative care.
