How am I eligible? | Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset | Eden Group

Motability scheme eligibility

Membership of the Motability scheme means simple access to a brand new car adapted for your precise mobility needs. Funding the vehicle is straightforward – you simply exchange your government mobility allowance for a lease agreement, and the amount you pay monthly covers servicing, road tax, insurance and breakdown cover, too. You can access everything the scheme has to offer with Eden Motor Group, and look forward to personalised support from our specialist advisers for as long as you're a member.

Before applying, it's important to first find out whether you are eligible for the scheme or not. Generally, you will be if you currently receive one of the following allowances, and at least 12 months' worth of payments remain. Please note that the Attendance Allowance cannot be used to gain a car lease.

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA);
  • Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of the Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP);
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS); and
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP).

If you are a parent or guardian of a child over three years of age who receives the HRMC DLA, it is possible to order a vehicle on their behalf. For all other eligible motorists there's no upper age limit, and up to two named drivers can be nominated to make use of a Motability vehicle.

Restrictions do apply for motorists under 25, as their model choice is limited to those less than 115bhp and which qualify for a lower ABI insurance group. If you have any driving-related convictions, disqualifications or endorsements, they may also affect your eligibility.

More information on specific allowances can be found on the Department for Work & Pensions website and the Veterans UK website . You can also get in touch with your local Eden franchise dealership to speak with an expert directly.
