The Power Source - The journey of an electric vehicle (EV) commences with its power source - the battery. Tucked away within its core in a series of smaller power cells, the battery stores a reservoir of chemical energy, ready to be converted into electrical energy that moves to the electric motor.
Electric Acceleration - As you press down on the accelerator pedal, the battery springs to life, releasing a surge of electricity. This electrical current sets the stage for an intriguing phenomenon known as electromagnetic induction that occurs in the motor.
Electromagnetic Induction - The electricity from the battery surges to the heart of the EV: the electric motor. The electric motor contains a coil, and when the electricity is passed through it, a magnetic field is generated around it. Magnets push and pull, and the in an EV motor, the magnetic field from the coil turns a rotor. With more electricity moving to the coil, the rotor will spin faster and faster (this is electromagnetic induction in a nutshell).
The Spinning Rotor Turns the Wheels - A spinning rotor is all you need to get things moving. The mechanical energy from the rotor spins the driveshaft which in turn, spins the wheels. More pedal means more electricity - more electricity means more magnetism - which then spins the motor (and the wheels) faster. Elegantly complex and simple at the same time.
Silent Motion - There are no explosions, no emissions, and far fewer moving parts. This allows EVs to have less wear and tear than regular cars. The only sound you may hear is the quiet hum of a spinning rotor, but batteries are quiet, magnetic fields are quiet, and smoothly spinning rotors are quiet. This doesn’t mean there isn’t friction - the rotor, bearings, and housing will still take a beating over time and use, which is why maintenance is essential!

What are the Warranty Coverage and Maintenance Programs for Electric Cars?
Warranty coverage and maintenance programs for electric cars vary among manufacturers. However, most offer a standard warranty covering the battery and major components for a certain period. Some manufacturers even go as far as to offer extended warranty plans, additional maintenance schemes, and long-term MOT deals. This all comes before whatever we at Eden can offer you in addition.

Vauxhall: All Vauxhall electric models come with 3 years of assistance, including roadside assistance, home service, relay assistance, and European assistance. There is also an eight-year/100,000-mile battery warranty which is transferable and guarantees at least 70 per cent charging capacity throughout the warranty period. Peugeot: Peugeot offers a special warranty offer where for the first three years from registration, your EV can gain repair or free replacement of defective parts. You also gain unlimited mileage coverage in the first two years and 60,000 in the third year. The battery is covered for eight years or 100,000 miles; it'll be replaced or refurbished if it loses more than 30% original maximum charge. 2 years of paintwork coverage and 12 years of perforation coverage are also included for personal vehicles. MG: The MG warranty covers free repair replacement or adjustment for unlimited mileage for up to 12 months and for 80,000 miles between 13 months and 84 months. A 7-year anti-perforation warranty applies to all new MG vehicles. The Paint Warranty covers the MG vehicle for 3 years or 60,000 miles from the date of first registration. Hyundai: Hyundai offers a 5 Year, fully transferable, Unlimited Mileage Warranty. Additionally, they also offer a manufacturer-backed, unlimited mileage, 5 Year Warranty* against manufacturing defects, Hyundai Roadside Assistance, Five Annual Vehicle Health Checks, and A 12 Year Anti-Perforation Warranty against perforation of the bodywork from the inside.
