Kettle On: Auto Retailer’s Nationwide Fundraiser Sets New High for MacmillanGo Back
An auto retail group recently brewed up a huge £18,100 for Macmillan Cancer Support after taking part in the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.
Eden Motor Group, with 22 dealerships across South England, invited communities into their local showrooms to indulge in some delicious homemade cakes, as well as a cuppa or two, to help raise money for the worthwhile charity.
There were also a variety of other fundraising activities taking place throughout the day, such as exercise-bike marathons, leg waxing and raffle prizes donated by local businesses.
What’s more, in a bid to improve on last year’s £15,600 total, Eden matched the £9,050 of public contributions to make the 2018 grand total a record-breaking £18,100.
The contribution to Macmillan, which operates 98% of its services by donation alone, will provide a tangible benefit to those who rely on its services. “The amount raised by Eden Motor Group could fund a Macmillan nurse for three months,” writes Diana Roberts, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support. She also notes that the amount raised equates to “a fully-kitted Macmillan Information Space including running costs, or a week’s worth of Mobile Cancer Support services (reaching and supporting, on average, 700 people).”
James Kurd, General Manager for Eden Motor Group, said: “We are overwhelmed with the support the community have shown at our coffee morning; the variety of homemade cakes on offer were as delicious as ever! Thank you to everyone who generously donated and helped us reach our amazing grand total – we’ve definitely got our work cut out for us next year!”
