Motability – Adaptations

Through the national Motability scheme, it is possible to have your Fiat vehicle fitted with adaptations to make your life easier. Fiat vehicles available under the scheme have different levels of adaptations open to them - contact us if you would like to discuss which adaptations are available to your chosen vehicle.

If you are of limited mobility or have a condition such as arthritis, there are many adaptations available to help you. These include modifications to movement or distance of in-car functions, such as adjustable steering columns, push-pull hand controls, or pedal extensions. A swivel chair can be installed to make getting in and out of your car a stress-free process, and we can also install elements such as electric hoists for lifting equipment such as scooters and powered wheelchairs in and out of your vehicle. Additionally, additional storage spaces can be fitted to your car, should you require it.

Adaptations are available for motorists at all levels of mobility. Infrared controls are available for drivers with limited upper body movement, while steering wheel balls can be installed to make driving one-handed an easy possibility. A pedal transfer is available to switch the location of the accelerator, while an easy-release handbrake reduces the effort needed should the user have limited strength or hand flexibility.

Many adaptations can be installed alongside the standard controls of the car, making the car accessible both to you and your family members. Many adaptations are available at no additional cost to you; contact us to explore the cost and availability of individual adaptations.
